The journal was created in 2017 by the decision of the Head of the NBC Protection Troops, Lieutenant General I.A. Kirillov. It was registered by the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Communications (Roskomnadzor). Mass media registration certificate PI № FS 77–69472 dated April 25, 2017.
In 2017, the journal was assigned the International Standard Serial Number ISSN WORK 2587-5728.
Since 2018, the journal has been included in the scientific electronic library eLIBRARY.ru and the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI).
Since 2019, the journal has been included into the Publishers International Linking Association (PILA) and has its own digital identification code (DOI): https://doi.org/10.35825/2587-5728
Since 2022, each publication uploaded to eLIBRARY.RU now has a QR code.
In April 2023, the 27th Scientific Center of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation signed an agreement with NEICON (National Electronic Information Consortium). It was established by the five largest national organizations (the Russian State Library, the Russian National Library, the VGBIL named after M.I. Rudomino, the Foundation for Information Support of Science, the National Foundation for Support of Book Publishing, Education and New Information Technologies «Pushkin Library»). In 2023, through NEICON, the journal will switch to the domestic platform elpub, developed for scientific journals. This will bring the electronic version of the journal in line with modern international standards and bring the journal to the international level by indexing it in international index and abstract databases.
May 2024:
The journal was officially registered with the Russian National ISSN Centre, obtaining its Online ISSN: 3034-2791 (Online).
June 2024:
The journal was accepted into the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), a community-curated list of high-quality, open access journals.
The journal was included in ROAD (Directory of Open Access Resources), a service provided by the International ISSN Centre with the support of UNESCO.
October 2024:
The journal was included in the List of Peer-Reviewed Scientific Publications approved by the Higher Attestation Commission (VAK) of the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education. This list comprises journals where major scientific results from doctoral and candidate of science dissertations must be published.
The journal is recognized for the following specializations within Military Sciences:

6.2.10. Lethal Effects of Special Types of Weapons; Means and Methods of Protection (Technical, Biological, Chemical Sciences)
6.3.3. Military History (Historical Sciences)
Inclusion in the VAK list implies stricter requirements for the content and scientific level of published articles.
May 2025:
The journal formally adopted an Artificial Intelligence Policy.
Operational Note (as of January 2025):
Due to sanctions imposed by the EU and US, the journal can no longer assign DOIs (Digital Object Identifiers) through international registries.
As an alternative, the journal uses the LIBRARY Document Number (EDN), a unique identifier assigned to all documents on the Russian eLibrary.ru platform. EDN has been included in bibliographic descriptions since 2022 alongside the DOI.
July 2025:
Following expert reviews by the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) and the scientific community, the journal was included in two key databases:
The Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) Core: A selective database of the best Russian peer-reviewed journals that meet high-quality criteria.
The RSCI on Web of Science: An international project that integrates high-quality Russian scientific articles into the Web of Science platform. Inclusion is based on international selection standards.
August 2025:
The journal, under its English title "Journal of NBC Protection Corps", was indexed by Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS), a division of the American Chemical Society. CAS is a leading source of chemical information and its related fields.
